NIGERIA MOURNS has condemned in the strongest term the barbaric renewed attacks and killings of innocent people in Kaura Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna and Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
This is even as the Group charges that perpetrators be held to account to avert future escalation of violence.
In a statement by Nigeria Mourns Secretariat, Abuja, the Group said they were concerned about the renewed violence so close to the elections
In their words “The inhuman activities of these terrorists have continued to pose great pains to many communities across the country especially those in the same region that have witnessed similar attacks in the recent past considering the already existing agony they are going through from previous attacks.
Nigeria Mourns is gravely concerned by these renewed attacks in these two sub-regions particularly as we draw closer to the general elections. The scale and gravity of these attacks mark a worrying escalation of violence. No cause can justify such brutality and senseless killing. Perpetrators should be held to account.
Nigeria Mourns urged the government, security forces, and stakeholders involved to step up their efforts in arresting the situation and bringing perpetrators to justice while also ensuring that innocent civilians are not harmed going forward.
Nigeria Mourns strongly urged all communities and groups to reject violence and embrace peaceful coexistence.
“After years of insecurity, it should be clear that violence is not always the right way to resolve grievances,” they said
