12th Emir of Katagum Receives Staff Of Office

On Saturday, people from all walks of life converged in Azare, the Headquarters of Katagum Emirate, to witness the presentation of the staff of Office to the 12th Emir of Katagum, Umar Faruk II, by the governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed.

The presentation which took place at the Aminu Saleh College of education was witnessed by dignitaries across the country prominent among them is the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Saad Abubakar, among others.

In his remarks, governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi while presenting the Staff of the Office charged him not to engage in partisan politics and exhibited leadership that would attract more respect to the Emirate.

He also charged the Emir to use his wealth of experience as a retired Federal Permanent Secretary in summoning all the challenges of the new office.

Governor Mohammed stressed the need for the Emir to emulate the quality leadership of his late father Alhaji Muhammad Kabir and contribute to introducing more policies to ensure his subjects’ wellbeing.

Bala Mohammed who acknowledged the contributions of traditional institutions in the maintenance of law and order noted that the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of palaces of District Heads embarked upon by his administration would add value to all the six emirate Councils across the state.

Speaking after receiving the Staff of Office, the 12th Emir of Katagum Umar Faruq who appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for the honor, pledged to work with members of the State Council of Emirs in complementing the Government’s effort towards improving the quality of lives of the people.

The occasion which has Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State as Chairman saw the presence of Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Minister of Education Adamu Adamu, Minster State of industry, trade, and investment Maryam Yelwaji Katagum, three former Governors of the State including Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, Isa Yuguda and Ahmed Muazu.
